Although the weather was wet and cold, the racing was fierce. from the start gun the Amashova Durban Classic was a hard-fought race. Moves were going from as early as Fox Hill and the pace was relentless. From the onset, the boys decided to keep the racing positive and Chris Jooste tried a solo break away.

After Chris was caught the pace got even hotter and a small selection was made. Eric Kros tried his hand going down Bothas Hill but after no one went with him he was back in the front group. The group was eventually down to a handful of riders with Eric in with a good shot at taking honours in the race. Disaster struck in the final KM as the young man from Pretoria hit a manhole and sliced his Tufo Tyre. After a quick change he remounted and finished the race behind teammate Chris Jooste JNR.
